Remember all those Super Deformed stickers I was making a while back? I did have a poll where I had lots of things listed and I said I'd draw the most popular choices. I have been sidetracked with many projects at once, but I do hope to get around to finishing more of these cute little things. They make lovely stickers. (prints... eh... not so much. I think they are rather simple for a print!)
These are in fact different. I still have some cleaning up to do on this sketch, but which one do you like better?
Edit: Thanks for the prompt comments. I'm working on this now, and hope to finish in the next 20 min or so. This is not a fully colored piece, rather, the technique I've been toning my sketches with combined with a light paint job instead of a light erase job on the creature. Beautiful paper texture from Hibbary and Cgtextures.com
On Deviantart I asked which among the tight pencil drawings I had done people would prefer that I color, and the "nightmare" drawing won hands down. So I'm slowly working on the little bugger. Originally I planned to make the creature black with a glowing orange and red mane, but it just didn't look nearly vile enough to be a nightmare. I figure if I want to do a nightmare, I need bits of peeling skin, a half exposed skull, some horns, and oh, I dunno, actual flames. Flaming eyes too! Yar!
So ah, this turned into pretty-princess-pony >.>

I'm trying hard not to do floating animals in the middle of nowhere, which is something I do quite often. Recently I've been better about critiquing on my forums. I keep suggesting to people to consider their backgrounds more and spend an equal amount of time on them, as they are just as important to the piece of art. Funny how I fail to take my own advice.
I'm working on drawing some stylized clouds and little creatures to float along with the nightmare. For the clouds, I am thinking something vaguely along the lines of the fireworks clouds in Mulan. Lots of swirlies. Not really true to reality. I'll post the extra pieces and parts soon. I'm considering making a Photoshop tutorial on how to assemble different drawings into a happy whole, because the concept may be foreign to many. It's easier then ever to assemble drawings together, thanks to the wonder that is the computar-machine. Previously, people had to use tracing paper, cutouts, and xeroxes, then transfer the whole mess over. Ack!
I always wondered if hairless cats enjoyed being petted and cuddled despite their lack of fur. O_O;;; Sorta cute in a bizarre way. The one in the back is NOT into the whole romping bit >.>
Third time trying to draw a vampire for this book. I think it's finally semi okay. This is still going to be edited before I color it.
Let's point out all the mistakes for funsies: 1. There's a tiny line in the bottom left that doesn't butt up against the grey border. 2. The vampire could use a slightly thicker outline so that he's easy to seperate from the background. 3. The carpet could use something to make it less... blank. I think more rose petals, or maybe a cat. I like cats. 4. The headboard needs something more to it. It looks boooooooooooooring. 5. Monster foot on the lady and the gigantic out of proportion rose petal just below it need to be reduced. 6. The space between the vamp's cowl and his shoulders is a magical void where time and space do not exist. 7. In addition to drinking her blood, the vamp seems to have snapped the poor girl's neck. Oh wait! That's just my drawing skills sucking.
The interior could use a little bit of work too... wait... interior!? I don't do those! Ever! I think I just saw a pig fly by my window on its way to go skiing in hell.
Has anyone else been having problems with LJ icons loading on friends lists and comment pages? It's been like this for two days, and I've purged my internet files to try and fix it. I'm curious if the problem lies my computer, or something with LJ itself.
As for my artsy stuff, I'm unsure whether I am finished with the banshee file or not; The main reason for my confusion is the background. I put 5 or 6 texture overlays on a radial gradient for what you see here, but I don't know if I'm being lazy or being practical. Does this look boring or unfinished to any of you? (honesty please! Don't worry about what I think.) I do want to be able to "get away with it" but not if it looks bad. I've stared at the image too long and cannot make a good judgement at this point.
Edit: I added in some additional textures on recommendation of turtlescope and some orange bg color into the dress on suggestion of ayakitsune. I like it a lot better now. The original version can be found here.
The serpent in the sky file is a little bit painted. I airbrushed bits and pieces of it in between some vector art work for AG and the banshee's shading. Still VERY, very unfinished, and some of the painted parts need some reworking. ^^;
If I don't have something nice to say, I won't say anything at all, bottling it up inside for an explosion or implosion at a later date, when the moon is just-so in the sky. Let's see how long this lasts before some innocent dies. *eyes her roommate and whistles inconspicuously*
Edit: Gonna take the back hand and make it a normal hand + redraw it so that it is also flung outward, making the pose more expressive in addition to being more anatomically sound. It kinda looks silly as is. Hand that's outstretched will have some normal fingers... which will have to result in the extra-lengthy bones being shrunk down to an acceptable size. I think it will look better that way. The odds that both her hands were stripped completely of flesh when the rest of her is so well intact would be rather slim. I also think they look more silly then creepy being extra-long.
Something pretty. (aka, the "Random Cool Image") I need to go to that location, leave everything behind, and open up my own margarita shack on the beach. Ah, the American dream.
