Chibi Inks - Angel

Remember all those Super Deformed stickers I was making a while back? I did have a poll where I had lots of things listed and I said I'd draw the most popular choices. I have been sidetracked with many projects at once, but I do hope to get around to finishing more of these cute little things. They make lovely stickers. (prints... eh... not so much. I think they are rather simple for a print!)

Edit: Fixed wing on the left.

Doneish

Tutorial will be coming soon. This is still a pending "final" as I need to see if the commissionee likes it :-D

Meh

This was taking forever to do in the beginning, but now that I've got a system down, I think this dual soft/hard shading method not only looks super spiffy, but will be quicker then my regular method of soft shading. While I do have to have 4 color layers to work on, they're all much simpler then the one complex color layer that I used to play with. I'm taking screenshots as I go, and will make a dragon paint tutorial on how to easily combine the two shading styles It mainly has to do with layer blend modes. Good trick! ...and I haven't updated my tutorial site in so long, it needs an update! Maybe I'll put some new things in the coloring bin. I really hate all the art that's currently in it.

I need to finish this tonight, and then get off my bum and scan in some lineart. Super Secret Attack: Random Cool Image!!!

30% done... maybe?

I'm torn whether to go cel or soft style with this. I might try a combination of both.

There is still 1/3 of the image missing. There will be magic spiraling up around the angel. I'm contemplating tiny dragons made of simple "energy" shapes. The dragon will be made of light, or at the very least, glow a great deal :-D Oh... the layer effects shall abound! I can have 5 billion layers, because my computer is SO FLIPPING AWESOME!!! *makes starry eyes at her terminal*

I've got one more dragon to share later. I *did* have two more, but I lost my 8.5x11 sketch pad at the Baycrafter's Rennaisance Faire this past Monday. I had a neat full body pencil of Kinen's new design, and an awesome facial shot of Denica in ballpoint with mouth open in a scream, spittle flying and all that jazz. *sigh* I'm still hoping to find that book lying around somewhere stupid, but it's been a week and I'm at the point where I want to give it up as a lost cause.

Corn snakes come in many colors... but I didn't know they came in... purple?

Yes, they have made a purple snake. It's not a Photoshop edit. I can buy my very own inbreed purple corn snake for the low, low price of $2000.

6 hours of sleep 5 days in a row; I'm officially in zombie mode.

Edit 3
Eh, screw "tah-dah" factor. I want to show people noooooooooow.

The crows obviously need some shading. They will be ever so shiney and full of purple and rainbow highlights. I'm still trying to decide what to do with the background. I either want to go with forest in background with uni jumping over a log by a reflective puddle of water (lots of turquoise all around) or go sky background. I'm worried about sky background though because then the unicorn is floating in space, not jumping; however, the prospect of painting a forest, logs, and puddles is less then appealing. I've never gotten into the whole background deal. It's just not fun for me.

Edit 2:
Zohmygod! There's rainbow shimmers going on!

Still working slowly on mister unicorn. There won't be any more in progress shots until I'm done, simply because I enjoy the "tah-dah!" factor of posting up finished art. Seeing it nearly finished is close enough to the final image that it ruins the effect :-(

Edit: Sorry for the lack of updates to this post. I cleaned my apartment up (aside from my dishes), went grocery shopping, and took a much needed nap. I basically blew the entire morning on something that needed to be finished last minute for one of my clients. I don't even know if they got it in time to use it XDDDDD

Anyhoo, here's about an hour of progress on the unicorn pic. I've slowly been shading the skin, and there's the very first layer of shadow on the mane, hence it's not very shiney yet. I think I might give the back of the coat spots, like a deer. It seems a little bit plain now. I want for this to be a fairly unique unicorn while still being unicorny.

I'm still toying with the idea of having it leaping and a bunch of doves being scared out of bushes and flying with it, or just having a shower of sparkles trail in its wake instead (or both?)

I changed my layout back to what it was a couple of years ago so that I could change the number of entries per page. This journal should be a lot less painful if you visit it directly. (loading 20 entries worth of images in one shot was very bad! Now you only have to load half that!)

Oh, and feel free to comment on the progress. I dont' mind multiple comments. I'm an attention hog and refresh my journal obsessive-compulsivly waiting for comments, thoughts, and suggestions. (I get scary when I've been alone for a while)

Base colors on mah unicorn: (check back later today for more in-progress shots. Same post.)

1 out of 3 drawings that I am assembling together for one of my commissions. It's kinda lonely without the other two. Please ignore the fact that the composition is shoddy and we don't know why the scarf is blowing up. Both issues will be addressed once the image is fully assembled because the missing pieces give a reason for wind, and complete the composition.
so lonely
