Alex and I were killing time before our showing of Golden Compass and we stopped by the bookstore. I walked in the entranceway and saw...



I didn't know this existed! Apparently the DragonArt Kit 1 was re-repackaged as a Barnes and Noble Exclusive. They used the basilisk image, which is my least favorite image in the book ;_; Aside from the ugly drawing, I adore the packaging. The box is a unique shape, instead of a rectangle. There's two different finishes used on the cover. The creature and title are done in this reflective sheen, whereas the rest of the packaging is matte. Its really thick too. Quite nice. I bought one to put on my shelf and show off to the relatives! What a treat!

Golden Compass... was not a treat. I adored the His Dark Materials Trilogy. They were like candy for me back in the day. I was gushing over the trailers, marvelling at all the high profile actors and money thrown at what I knew to be a fantastic story. And opening weekend finally arrived. Glee was in the air!

I typed up a novel of complaint here... but decided to spare you my wall of text and instead share the pain of my movie experience in the form of haiku

The Golden Compass.
Destroyed my childhood for cash.
Sticky crap on floor.
