Twins?
These are in fact different. I still have some cleaning up to do on this sketch, but which one do you like better?

Edit: Thanks for the prompt comments. I'm working on this now, and hope to finish in the next 20 min or so. This is not a fully colored piece, rather, the technique I've been toning my sketches with combined with a light paint job instead of a light erase job on the creature. Beautiful paper texture from Hibbary and Cgtextures.com

Edit 2: And done.
Ka-kaw!

I can't tell on my crappy monitor - they're both nice. I'm leaning toward the right hand one though because there's more contrast between the stump and tail and the background.

Ok, so I came to the party late...

But I really like the final product, and especially how that's a skinny critter in the middle of snow. THANK YOU=.=

I'm especially drawn towards the tree stump of all things, and his back legs. Actually, I think I'm kinna in love with those (mildly gravity-defying) feathers~
...
(feathers being the longer fur/hair on the back legs. Not that I dislike the literal feathers. Those are quite pretty too. Also, mohawks are cool.Err.)
(BTW, you mentioned a while ago about emailing me concerning commissions. If you did, I never got anything>.>)

Doh!

Basically I want to refund my age-old commissions. Unless you still want your character drawn, in which case I'll try and finish it in the next month or so. I think I'll need for you to resend the description. Gonna redraw him for like the 4th time, hee hee. >.<;;;;

I did a combination of the two layering techniques. The blue tail did not survive >.>;

After watching your art for a couple years now I have to say...you're definitely getting more awesome (you were good before but now your drawings are so well done they make me want to weep more than they did before, which means I need to practice a LOT more).

What is really great is the detail you're putting in your scenery now. Really beautiful. I love the stark feeling the landscape and background colors give. Really nice for a winter scene.

The griffon looks freaking amazing- but we all know you're awesome at fantasy creatures. X3 What I really want to know is- how did you get that AWESOME looking effect for the sky? Watercolors? It looks so coooolll. *stares*

It's a texture overlay combined with some painting and gradients underneath.
