Last Minute Arrival
A cardboard box arrived in the mail at 8PM today, just in time for Ohayocon tomorrow. It was full of goodies:

They're lacquered tiles inset in wooden keepsake boxes, roughly 6 inches by 6 inches by 1.75 inches deep. The boxes themselves come in two types of wood color, one a jet black, one a mahogany color. Inside there is a white velvet lining, and the bottom is padded with black and maroon velvet depending on the color of the wood. VERY VERY pretty! There are a dozen different designs of these beautiful little keepsake boxes. (The thirteenth - Spellfire - pattern sadly turned out over-saturated despite my better efforts at image preparation.)

There are very very very limited quantities of these boxes, but I hope to order more soon. After Ohayocon I'll post what's available if anyone online is interested. The boxes are soooo pretty! I almost don't want to sell them, but what am I going to do with more then a dozen keepsake boxes!? I suppose I could become knick-knack queen, but I had hoped to save that for a later stage in life.

Oh those are lovely, I'd be interested in seeing what you had left. If I may ask, where did you have the boxes made at?

Cafepress, if you'll believe it. Of all their products, this particular one is the only one I feel is truly nice. Utterly unimpressed with the samples I ordered of other things a few months back.

The image preparation is rather lengthy for these though to get a nice print. They're printed using sublimation and if your design is too dark, too saturated, or contains a lot of true blue, you're going to have some problems. Lighten, turn down saturation on bright images, and avoid true blues and you'll get a nicer box.

The boxes are also hideously expensive if you just purchase one ($19.99 base price). If youg et 15, they price jumps down to $12.99. Your 15 boxes do not have to be the same wood or design, so you can order a whole variety.

The problem is that since the printing is so touchy, you really won't know how your boxes will turn out until you've tested that particular image. Through a different company I get metal dog tags made with my art on them, also with sublimation, so I knew some of the image formatting tricks ahead of time and only ended up with one image that printed poorly. (and two that weren't quite true to the image, but still look nice in their own way. Will probably tweak if I do a reorder, but that will involve ordering another 15 boxes. Even at $12.99 a piece, that's still a hefty order and I'd rather be sure that these sell okay before considering a reorder.

pretty :)

I have seen some the titles from cafepress lately and they a lot nicer than the last one I saw of mine a few years ago.

lol the 'ORLY?' owl one just cracks me up and he's even peeking out from behind a box in the photo XD

If any I'd buy that one, then no one would be able to even open the box to get at whatever was inside because they'd be all like "ROFLMAO an ORLY owl!" and I'd be like "LOL u noob, the ORLY owl pwns all"...

oh dear to much MMO in my blood, it isn't good is it...:( Anyway what I meant to post before spotting that was they look great, nice find, shame about the price though I hope they work out for you profit-wise

Those look beautiful. While I don't think $19.99 is that expensive, I can see where ordering them in quantity makes sense. Good luck selling them at the con!

And I had to go back and find the ORLY owl after the post above this mentioned him. LOL! I didn't even notice at first.:)
