Eh, well, we'll see what happens. Maybe it'll look better colored with some ground for them to sit on. Hehehe, those kids are gonna get crushed.

Edit: Maybe I just need to complete the nightmare and unicorn as tattoo flash, and at a later time throw something horrible coming at the unicorn and kids. I was really keen on something big, shadowy-abstract, slowly coming out of a black cloud that covers the sky. The unicorn and kids would be on a fairly bright patch of grass and flowers, with the black on the edges slowly creeping in and greying out/killing the ground as it moves. I could completely forget about the nightmare.
I think the image will be a lot stronger that way. I really want this to be an image about bravery in the face of something overwhelming. This not only includes the unicorn, but the girl as well. Even though she's about to be run over, she looks to the safty of her brother, protecting him.
----------------------------
Edit 2: It's official, I'm splitting up the image. I'll let you guys know what's being done with both once I:
1. Finish off this tattoo flash project.
2. Finish my commissions. (I need to do this. I just need to. I keep saying I will, but I don't.)
3. Draw the missing elements for each image.

I'm kind of overkilling with these sheets in terms of coloring quality, which does not need to be as high as I'm making it. Each sheet has 2-3 major designs, and 3-5 minis.

Both parts of the piece are fantastic though, but you're right, something about them just doesn't stick.

Perhaps something more like this could salvage the idea:

Upon second thought, the perspective of the mare is a bit weird, I can't determine where the horizon is; the horns are seen from below, the front legs and tail end are seen from above, the rear legs, particularly her left, look drawn from below. How do you establish viewing angles in your drawings?

Nightmare Horse
I thaught Nightmare was a flaming horse. I read in a book nightmare's hair was on fire.August 3 2005, 18:40:39 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Nightmare Horse
Yep, there will be fire, and lots of it! I still want the ghostly shape of the hair beneath it, but rest assured that the mane, tail, foot tufts, eyes, and possibl nostrils will be aflame!August 3 2005, 20:17:23 UTC 6 years ago
I can't give you any tips there, my skill is far away from that ;)
Greetings!!

#1 Your art IS LOVELY, so I don't know what you're talking about.
#2 Even if it wasn't lovely, I've known plenty of people who can't draw well, but still have very functional eyes :-D

Just the idea behind, I think I wouldn't even think of that or even get it done on a piece of paper... as for a tip.. I hope you leave them that way generally I really love the characters on there how they are, but yup, up to you ;) The nightmare stands very close to the unicorn, but that is no major crit. *continues art-observation*
